The five Wards of Kidsgrove, Newchapel, Kidsgrove, Ravenscliffe, Butt Lane and Talke are represented by 24 elected Town Councillors. Four or five councillors represent everyone living in each area for a four-year term. Councillors are not paid for their work, many of them have full-time jobs and service to the community takes up a lot of their free time. Some councillors have regular surgeries. Each year members elect a Town Mayor as the Chairman of the Council, the Mayor carries out a wide range of duties, including attending various official functions and representing the Town. Council and various committee meetings are held each month at the Town Hall and are open to the public. Agendas are available in advance so that Councillors can comment and influence decisions. Further information can be obtained from Jill Waring, Town Clerk, Town Council Offices, Town Hall, Liverpool Road, Kidsgrove Stoke-on-Trent ST7 4EL. Telephone: 01782 782254.
